Dantewada & Bastar, Chhattisgarh
Rise Against Hunger India's community-led initiative organized a large-scale engagement program in Katekalyan block, Dantewada, involving over 350 pregnant women, lactating mothers, Poshan Mitras, and community volunteers. Notable improvements: 85% of women showed weight gain, 91% of children participated in growth monitoring, and completion rates for ANC visits improved significantly.

Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh
A four-day training program in Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh equipped approximately 80 'Gram Sathis' — proactive rural community workers — with knowledge and tools for grassroots implementation. These community resource persons will lead their communities towards self-reliance as part of the Hunger-Free Village initiative, including field immersion visits to operational areas in Bastar and Dantewada.

Following a successful pilot in Bhubaneswar, RAHI has scaled its nutrition-integrated life skills education program through a Training of Trainers initiative — 26 NGO partners and 53 trainers now deliver ten-part modules covering healthy eating, hygiene, clean cooking, and food awareness across Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, and Hyderabad.

Bastar & Dantewada, Chhattisgarh
Rise Against Hunger India launched the 'First 1000 Days Initiative' in tribal-dominated Bastar and Dantewada districts, providing ready-to-cook nutritious meals (chana and millet-based products), supplementary nutrition, and hygiene kits to 700 households across six panchayats. Over 100 volunteers were trained on maternal and child health, and a dedicated warehouse was inaugurated in Dantewada.

RAHI co-organized a national summit at India International Centre, New Delhi, bringing together 15+ speakers from public health, academia, CSR, and grassroots organizations. Themed 'A Collective Movement for Nutrition,' the summit featured keynotes on building a nutrition-literate India, sessions on food systems and sustainability, and a vision for an annual platform advancing SDG 2 (Zero Hunger).

On International Women's Day, RAHI launched women-led projects as part of its SAMBAL initiative in Koraput, Malkangiri, and Nabrangpur districts of Odisha — empowering women through sustainable livelihood programs. The launch was covered by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), CSR Journal, and 12+ media outlets.

On International Volunteer Day, RAHI celebrated over 45,000 volunteers who participated in meal packaging events across India, reaching nearly 1.5 million people. Executive Director Dola Mohapatra highlighted India's ranking of 94 out of 107 countries on the Global Hunger Index 2020, calling for collective action to create a hunger-free India.

For World Food Day 2020, RAHI declared October as Hunger Action Month — a campaign to recognize farmers, food vendors, and everyday 'Food Heroes' contributing to food systems. The initiative was covered by 15+ outlets including Daily Hunt, FNB News, and Agency Reporter.

RAHI reached a staggering 2.5 million meals distributed across 9 states during the COVID-19 pandemic, serving daily wage labourers, construction workers, and street vendors. In parallel, Les Roches (Swiss hospitality school) partnered with RAHI to donate 35,000 meals to migrant groups in Mumbai — a story covered by Outlook India, BW Business World, and 30+ outlets.
March 2020

As India entered the world's biggest lockdown, RAHI was among the first NGOs to mobilize, distributing 1.2 million packaged meals across 4 cities. The response was covered by NDTV ('Bengaluru NGO to feed 20,000 poor during lockdown'), Business Standard, Outlook India, and even the LA Times in a feature on India's lockdown impact.

Bargarh, Odisha
Rise Against Hunger India launched a project in Bargarh district, Odisha to create an end-to-end value chain for millet farmers. Supporting 5 Farmer Producer Organizations and 800 farmers with agri-tools and equipment, the initiative was covered by Business World, Outlook India, Navbharat Times, and 20+ outlets in English and Hindi.

In partnership with SAP and Hershey's, Rise Against Hunger India organized meal packaging events producing 20,000 meals and distributed food to 200 families in Hirekere village (Karnataka) and Karnoor & Bidri villages (Maharashtra) through NGO partners Gilgal Trust and Hope World Wide.

RAHI launched a Hunger Education Module (HEM) designed for integration into school curricula, covering hunger awareness, food wastage, and healthy diets. The curtain raiser event in Mumbai included student meal packaging sessions and interactive quizzes, with plans to create 'Hunger Champions' across schools nationwide.

As devastating floods swept through Assam affecting millions, RAHI dispatched 10,000 dry uncooked meals along with family kits and millet nutri-bars to flood-affected communities. The relief story was covered by over 30 major national outlets.
