Supporting vulnerable communities with nutritious meals, healthcare nutrition, and safety nets while they work toward self-sufficiency
While communities work toward a future in which they can thrive, vulnerable families and individuals still have basic, immediate needs. Rise Against Hunger India supports programs that provide nourishment, healthcare training, drinking water facilities, training of caregivers and other services that support the difficult journey out of poverty.
Our meals are provided to schools, orphanages, elderly care homes, hospitals and centers treating patients recovering from TB, Cancer, HIV/AIDS and other illnesses. For community empowerment programs, the provision of meals offsets productive time given by adult members for building community assets for common use (Meals4Development). Meals also act as a major safety net for people in crisis to cope with their daily survival needs before they start working to organize their livelihoods.
One in three people worldwide are adversely affected by vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Our meals, packaged by volunteers, are designed to provide a comprehensive array of micronutrients — including enriched rice, dal (legume) protein, dried vegetables, and 20 essential vitamins and nutrients.
Cooked meals for mothers through Community Kitchen Centers (CKCs) and dry nutrition where kitchens are not functional — providing critical additional nutrition during pregnancy and early childhood
