October is Hunger Action Month. This year, Rise Against Hunger India invites you to act under the theme: Innovate Today. Nourish Tomorrow.
Every October, Rise Against Hunger India observes Hunger Action Month as a reminder that while hunger remains one of the world's most pressing challenges, every individual has the power to contribute to solutions. This year, Rise Against Hunger India is observing Hunger Action Month under the theme: Innovate Today. Nourish Tomorrow.
The theme reflects a simple but important idea: creating a hunger-free future requires both immediate action and long-term thinking. It requires innovation in the way we produce, distribute, access and consume food, while ensuring that nutritious food reaches those who need it most.
Food insecurity is often more complex than the absence of food. Rising living costs, unemployment, natural disasters, emergencies and unequal access to nutritious food can all affect a family's ability to maintain healthy diets. In many cases, hunger coexists with poor nutrition, limited dietary diversity and inadequate access to essential nutrients.
For this reason, addressing hunger requires multiple approaches. Some organizations provide immediate access to nutritious meals. Others work to prevent malnutrition, strengthen food systems, rescue surplus food, support livelihoods or advocate for policies that improve food security. Progress becomes possible when these efforts work together.

Hunger Action Month is not only about understanding the problem. It is about choosing to act. Whether you contribute your time, skills, resources or voice, there are many meaningful ways to support hunger action.
Commit to practical actions that promote healthier food choices, reduce food waste and encourage responsible food practices in everyday life.
Volunteers play an important role in meal packaging programs, food distribution efforts and community initiatives. By contributing a few hours of your time, you can support efforts that help provide nutritious meals to people facing food insecurity.
Bring together colleagues, classmates, neighbours or community groups to support local hunger relief efforts. Food drives can help strengthen community engagement while supporting organizations working on the frontlines of hunger relief.
Many people are unaware of the realities of food insecurity and poor nutrition. Sharing accurate information, starting conversations and encouraging thoughtful action can help build wider public understanding.
Long-term progress requires improving access to affordable, nutritious food while supporting stronger and more resilient food systems. Learning about these issues and supporting positive change can contribute to lasting impact.
On 16 October, we are hosting an all-day meal packaging marathon across all our warehouse locations in Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bhubaneswar. Join thousands of volunteers as we mark World Food Day with action — packaging nutritious meals for communities facing hunger.
You do not need to wait for a special occasion. We host regular meal packaging events at our warehouses — free of charge and open to students, families, individuals and associations. Events run on weekdays and Saturdays. Groups of 10 or more can book dedicated sessions, and individuals are welcome without any minimum.
Beyond organized events, there are meaningful actions you can take every day:
Small actions taken consistently by many people can create meaningful change. As we observe Hunger Action Month 2026, let us remember that building a hunger-free future is a shared responsibility. By making informed food choices, supporting community action and encouraging greater awareness, each of us can play a part in creating a healthier and more food-secure India.
Take the Hunger Action Pledge. Volunteer. Learn. Share. Donate. Together, we can Innovate Today and Nourish Tomorrow.
